ALES Formal - get your tickets today!

The ALES Formal wraps up the events of ALES Week.  The Formal kicks off at 6:30pm in Dinwoodie Lounge.  Get your tickets now to take in the event!  Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.  Buy yours today in the Ag/For pit or in Student Services in 2-31 GSB. Free appetizers, awesome tunes, creative and sustainable decorations, and of course good friends.  Hope to see you there!

The results are in...

....and our winner of last night's Macgregor Smith was Rosie Templeton who shared her presentation titled "The Place for Local in a Globalizing World".  Lucas Bell was awarded the second prize for his presentation entitled "Supporting Your Local Grain Elevator" and Hilary Whiting placed third with her presentation titled "Is Local Logical?".  Congratulations also to Fatima Khan and Nikki Way for their inspiring presentations on permaculture and a U of A Farmer's Market. 

Dean Kreutzer from Over the Hill Orchards joined us to share his story of a "City Boy's Guide to Organic Fruit Growing".  Thanks for being there, Dean and to Farm Credit Canada for providing support and an iPad for our GoAg event!

Macgregor Smith today

For the last 81 years, students have been competiting in the Macgregor Smith Speaking Competition.  This year, we're shaking things up.  Come out and watch 5 students present their Pecha Kucha style presentations.  We're also super excited to welcome Dean Kreutzer of Over the Hill Orchards to share his story of "A City Boy's Guide to Organic Fruit Growing".  One lucky attendee will win an iPad....don't miss out!

Celebrate Chinese New Year during ALES Week!

If you walked through the Agriculture/Forestry Centre right now, you would find the pit transformed with the buzz of excitement around the Chinese New Year festivities.  Come and join in the celebrations; taste some traditional treats, and try your hand at drawing chinese characters.  Celebrations will continue until 1:30pm.

ALES Week is here!

Finally, the week we've all been waiting for has arrived!  Join HESA this afternoon for their trail riding event.  Make sure to wear red tomorrow to join in the celebrations of Chinese New Year.
